    Happy Birthday,

    Riya

    Every year of you,
    written in the stars.

    Written in the stars

    Every year, a star

    1. 1996: The shoes came off. Third birthday. New sandals, ten minutes, gone. Ma still has the photo of you barefoot on the sofa, holding both of them like evidence.
    2. 2007: The play you weren't in. You learned the whole script anyway and prompted from the wings so loudly that half the audience heard every line twice.
    3. 2013: Hostel block C. Two suitcases and a rice cooker you weren't allowed to have. By November there were nine people eating out of it.
    4. 2017: The twenty-first. The cake collapsed on the stairs. You ate it out of the box with a spoon and said it was better this way.
    5. 2019: Goa, unplanned. Six of us, one van, no bookings. Four hours navigating by paper map before you admitted you'd been holding it sideways.
    6. 2022: The year that took something. You held the whole family together and told nobody how tired you were. We noticed. We're saying it now.
    7. 2026: Thirty. Still the one who calls first. Still the one who remembers what everyone ordered.

    1996

    The shoes came off

Third birthday. New sandals, ten minutes, gone. Ma still has the photo of you barefoot on the sofa, holding both of them like evidence.

Happy 30th, Riya — the whole sky knows

Something fell out of the sky for you.

    Riya,

Eleven of us spent three weeks keeping a secret from the one person who always finds out. That alone should tell you something.

You are the reason Sunday lunch still happens, the reason nine people survived hostel food, the reason a folded paper map became the best four days of 2019. You walk into ordinary rooms and they stop being ordinary.

This year, we hope you take the leave. We hope you let someone else lay the table. We hope it's gentle with you, the way you are with everyone.

With all of our love — everyone who couldn't keep quiet

    जन्मदिन मुबारक हो, मेरी बच्ची। — माँ

    Your song

The song from the Goa van

    Riya's playlist, 2019

It played four times on the drive back and nobody skipped it once.

    The ones we kept

    A sky full of you

A family gathered around a lit birthday cake in a warm, dim room.
    The table, this year
Candles burning on a birthday cake in the dark.
    Every year, the same wish
Two people sitting close together by candlelight, mid-conversation.
    4am, still talking
A family gathered around a table laid with food, mid-celebration.
    Sunday lunch
A foot resting out of a car window on an empty green road.
    Goa, the paper map
Two people looking through old printed photographs together.
    The shoebox, with Nani
Hands holding a gift wrapped with a red satin ribbon.
    Wrapped badly, on purpose
A birthday cake lit with candles in a dim room.
    Make a wish

Thirty years of making ordinary rooms brighter.

The best part of your story hasn't happened yet.

    Happy birthday, Riya

    About this birthday website example

“Thirty Years of Riya” is a sample of a Xenium birthday experience — a private website built around one person, opened from a single link. Themed “Written in the Stars”, it opens on a gift you unwrap by scrolling, draws her years as a constellation that lights up star by star, and brings together a letter from her family, a photo gallery and her song.

A real order is built the same way from what you send us: up to 15 photos and videos, your words, their song and messages you collect from friends and family. You can set it to unlock at midnight on their birthday, with a countdown until then. It costs ₹750 with everything included, and is delivered the same day if you order before 12 PM IST, otherwise within 24 hours.

Birthday Xeniums are ordered for partners, best friends, parents turning sixty and siblings in other cities. Messages and songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi or Malayalam are welcome. The finished gift arrives as a private link with a printable QR code, so it can go inside a card, into the family group at midnight, or straight to their phone. If anything isn't right, revisions are free and unlimited.
